8:30AM – 9:45AM

Burges Salmon, 6 New Street Square, London, United Kingdom, EC4A 3BF

Hear from lending experts within this field about the findings from recent research commissioned by the BPF/BCO/BCSC and the impact on property values across the UK.

Business Rates is a long established form of taxation. Traditionally seen as an occupational tax on business, it is a cost increasingly borne by Landlords. In recent years questions around ‘fairness’ have come into the fore with the all but abolition of empty rates relief and the postponement ofthe 2015 revaluation.

The Government is consulting on minor changes to the administrative process but bigger issues remain about the adverse impact of the current system and whether it is still appropriate in a more digital age.

We will explore the impact business rates can have on property investment decisions and consider what the future might look like.
