James Traynor recently published ‘EnerPHit’ (RIBA 2019), which provides a step-by-step guide to low energy retrofit. In this briefing, he will use international commercial property case studies to underline the importance of ‘deep’ building refurbishment, and in particular the Passivhaus EnerPhit standard, in meeting the international targets set out in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Climate Change Agreement in 2015. He will also consider new build design against the backdrop of reduced energy consumption and climate change.
