On Tuesday 17th November from 12.00pm to 1.00pm OpenAG will be hosting a Q&A with Stephen Whittle and Richard Fisk who will reflect on their own Trans experiences.
Stephen is a British legal scholar and activist with the transgender activist group Press for Change and transitioned from female to male in 1975.
Since 2007, he has been a Professor of Equalities Law in the School of Law at Manchester Metropolitan University and between 2007 and 2009 he was president of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health.
Recently he has worked with Dr Sara Davidmann from the University of the Arts London, in creating exhibitions on what it means to be trans. In 2013, he advised on, and wrote, the historical timeline for Liverpool Museum's exhibition Portrait of a Lady; the history of transsexual people in the UK told through the story of model, April Ashley.
Richard, our CSR and Diversity manager and committee member of our LGBTQ+ network OpenAG will share his lived experiences of growing up with a trans sister and offer an alternative perspective.
During the Q&A session, Stephen and Richard will share their lived experiences and shine a light on the importance of recognition and support and welcome questions from the audience.
