This research up-dates the 2011 Outlook for Development Finance in the UK study, jointly commissioned by the IPF and APL. The climate in the real estate the sector has changed significantly in the four years that have elapsed since this earlier study, evidenced in part by the extent of construction now underway.
The new investigation looks at the depth of funding/appetite, not only from historic lenders but also from non-traditional sources, including sovereign wealth funds, the bond market and institutional investors. How much are these entities, which do not fall under banking regulation, providing funding for development and how do their terms vary from traditional lenders?
