Northern: The UK Commercial Property Lending Market 2015 Report Seminar

7

Jun

2016

1:00PM – 2:15PM

Research by De Montfort University into the UK commercial property lending market has been undertaken since 1999 with over 80 lenders contributing to the research last year. The annual report is authoritative and highly regarded, being widely used in the property and finance industries, and by the Bank of England.

Bill Maxted, co-author of the report with Trudi Porter, has made a significant contribution to research into real estate finance, but is due to retire this year. Please join us to see Bill present key findings from the 2015 year- end survey. He will examine market size and trends in the levels of outstanding debt, new lending volumes, LTV ratios, pricing and lenders intentions.

With senior lenders often limited to a maximum LTV of 60%, some borrowers are finding it difficult to achieve target returns if they are required to invest equity of 40%. As a result, mezzanine lending has become an important part of the capital stack to bridge the gap between senior debt and borrower equity.

Mike Birch will outline the size and scale of the mezzanine lending market in the regions, explain the structure between mezzanine and senior debt, highlight some of the issues faced when using mezzanine and senior in the same structure and provide an overview of mezzanine pricing and terms.
