Enhancing asset resilience while balancing purpose and profit is now considered best practice. The UK leads the way in setting expectations for delivering, measuring, and improving social sustainability in real estate.

However, the property sector remains in its early stages. Social value and impact are not yet consistently measured for standing investments, and a standardized, scalable property-specific framework is still lacking. Despite this, some mature market players are driving the sector forward—from a quantitative, input-focused approach to a more holistic evaluation of outcomes.

The challenge lies in measurement. While input metrics are straightforward to collect and verify, proving the causal link between actions and outcomes is complex, even for large-scale projects due to multiple influencing factors. As a result, the quality of actions and the storytelling around them are becoming increasingly important. A qualitative perspective offers a more comprehensive understanding of the impact created by those involved in and around a property asset.

How can we advance towards more holistic measurement and validated reporting while ensuring standardized yet meaningful action is accessible to all?

In this joint IPF/SPR webinar, we will hear from experts in the measurement and implementation of social sustainability, providing valuable insights into the future of impact-driven real estate.
