Research Programme 2006-2009

Thanks to the generosity of 24 leading property organisations, the IPF secured in excess of £1 million of funding to support its 2006-2009 Programme, which was extended for a further year, due to the constraints of the economic climate, but was able to continue its work through the further financial support from existing sponsors and the IPF Educational Trust.

Between 2007 and 2011 more than 20 major reports were published, funded by this Programme, covering key topics in the areas of risk, sustainability and pricing. The final important piece of research, focusing on risk in UK commercial real estate at the asset level, examining the characteristics of real estate returns, their relationship with other financial assets and how these vary over time, was delivered in early 2012.

In addition to the major research programme, in 2009 a Short Paper Series was established to address current issues facing the property investment market in a timely but robust fashion, allowing publication of topical subjects in a shorter time-scale than we would normally achieve for our more detailed research projects.
